Motherby House Bed & Breakfast with optional evening meal Motherby House is an 18th century traditional farmhouse, situated in the hamlet of Motherby, just four miles from the shores of the English Lake District's beautiful Ullswater. The market town of Penrith is six miles to the east and Keswick is 12 miles away. We are ideally positioned for walking the northern and eastern fells, including the popular Helvellyn, Blencathra and High Street mountains. Sympathetically modernised, Motherby House has lost none of its original charm, log fires add to the warm homely atmosphere. Bacon was once cured at Motherby, and the hooks used for this purpose can still be seen embedded in the old oak beams. The former farm house and coach house, now a small cottage, form a sheltered courtyard adjacent to a secluded walled garden.
